Why it shouldn't Matter
When segregating sports teams, skill level should be the deciding factor over gender. After all, it’s the skill level of a player, not their size that makes a difference especially when considering sports at the high school level and below.
- Research supports the fact that before puberty, there are no physical difference between males and females that would affect their physical or athletic abilities.
- When, physical differences do start to appear, not all would pose as a disadvantage to females.
- Even at the high school level, there are still a lot of males who are simply not as good of players as some females.
- You can always tell the girl who has older siblings or comes from a family that enjoys sports, but you can also tell the boys who spend more time playing video games than playing outside.
- The old argument that men are stronger and more athletic would be moot if teams required an equal number of male and female players.
- If an equal number of male and female players existed, any differences that existed between the two genders would be diluted and not as apparent.
